McKinney ISD Board of Trustees Approves Plan to Repurpose Three Elementary Campuses as Part of Long-Range Facility and Financial Strategy

McKinney, Texas (Nov. 5, 2025) — After months of careful study, discussion, and community input, the McKinney ISD Board of Trustees has approved the decision to repurpose three elementary campuses—Eddins Elementary, McNeil Elementary, and Wolford Elementary—as part of the district’s long-range facility and financial plan.
This decision follows years of strategic planning and collaboration with community stakeholders, including more than 300 parents, staff, students, and community members who participated in the district’s Strategic Planning Committee and Long-Range Facility Planning Committee.
“We know this decision carries deep emotion,” said Shawn Pratt, McKinney ISD Superintendent. “Our schools are more than buildings—they are communities filled with relationships, memories, and traditions. This decision was made only after thoughtful planning and a clear understanding of the challenges facing our district. From the time that elementary school consolidation was recommended by the Long Range Facility Planning Committee last year, we knew there was no way to implement a plan without directly impacting valued families and communities. Unfortunately, our financial realities are clear, and this is one of several necessary steps we have taken—and continue to take—to ensure our district can offer excellent educational experiences for every MISD student. This is one of many measures we’ve had to consider to balance what was once a $23 million deficit.”
